Itinerary
Expand all Collapse allDepart from Luang Prabang and enjoy a scenic 3 hour drive winding along the Nam Ou River to the trail head or our Nong Khiaw trekking tour.
Today’s hike will take you up along a cascading waterfall passing through pristine jungle of ferns and large trees. We recommend you to bring some shoes or sandals that can get wet as we hike our way up and through the waterfall.
At the top of the waterfall, the trail flattens and passes through agricultural land on the final stretch to a large and remote Hmong village for an unforgettable homestay. Lunch will be along the way and dinner in the village.
Distance trek: 7 km (3-4 hours)
After breakfast we start a hike through valleys and mountains covered with rice paddies and jungle. In the afternoon, we’ll arrive at a small Hmong village nestled into the side of a mountain and get chance to visit a homestay in a very simple house with a family who has made their living there for years. A short walk up the mountain and you can visit a village with one of the most spectacular views in the area overlooking countless mountain peaks.
Spend the night with a friendly family for an authentic, welcoming, and unforgettable homestay.
Distance trek: 11 km (5 hours)
Today we’ll hike to the Nong Khiaw Valley from our mountaintop homestay. The hike is only 2.5-3 hours and you’ll want to take it slow to for pictures and to enjoy the spectacular morning views.
Transfer to Nong Khiaw center and check into the beautiful Nong Khiaw Riverside Lodge for a night of comfort after “roughing it”. You’ll have time to explore the small town of Nong Khiaw, visit Phatok Cave with your guide for some interesting natural and historical attractions, and relax in the comfort of a riverside lodge. Your evening is free to yourself.
First found in October 2008, 100 Waterfalls are the extremely beautiful complexes. You will walk through the quite streams and beautiful rice paddies before set foot on natural masterpieces. When you’re there, commune with nature with only water, jungle, and songs of the cascades. While you’re closer to nature, the inviting clear pond urges you to soak in it. With the local professional guide’s support, we find it easy and safe to overcome the cascades.
Hike back to the Nam Ou River for boat transfer to Ban Houay Goong, a traditional Khmu village in a stunning setting on the riverbanks where you will spend an overnight homestay.
