Today is dedicated to a full-day journey through the Angkor Highlighted Temples Complex, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Southeast Asia’s most important archaeological treasures. The complex preserves the magnificent remnants of the Khmer Empire’s capitals, showcasing intricate and naturalistic Khmer architecture.

Start at Ta Prohm, a temple almost reclaimed by the jungle and surrounded by tropical forests. Originally a monastery and Mahayana Buddhist school, it was built by King Jayavarman VII in the late 12th to early 13th century. The intertwining roots and stone walls create a mystical and unforgettable atmosphere.

Next, visit Angkor Wat, the world’s largest religious monument. Constructed in the early 12th century by King Suryavarman II as his mausoleum, Angkor Wat combines two classic Khmer architectural styles, resulting in a grand and harmonious design that continues to inspire awe.

In the afternoon, explore Angkor Thom, the last and largest capital of the Khmer Empire, located near Tonle Sap Lake. Built by King Jayavarman VII in the late 12th century, highlights include Bayon Temple, Baphuon, the Elephant Terrace, the Leper King Terrace, and the Royal Palace area. Complete the day with a visit to Preah Khan Temple, another 12th-century masterpiece of King Jayavarman VII.

Return to your hotel in Siem Reap and enjoy the evening at your leisure, with the option to explore the vibrant city by night.

The afternoon is free at your leisure, giving you time to relax or explore Siem Reap on your own before the evening.

In the morning, visit Banteay Srei, the smallest yet most exquisite temple in the Angkor Complex, dedicated to the Hindu God Shiva. Built entirely of red sandstone in the 10th century, it is renowned for its intricate and masterful artistic carvings.

Next, explore Phnom Kulen, a mountain range sacred to both Hindus and Buddhists. The highlight is the waterfall atop Kulen Mountain, which provides water for Siem Reap and dominates the surrounding flat plains with its majestic presence. Nearby, visit the River of 1,000 Lingas, an important spiritual, historical, and agricultural site, which flows down to Angkor Wat and eventually into the Tonle Sap Lake, Cambodia’s largest freshwater lake.

Enjoy a picnic lunch amidst the scenic surroundings before returning to Siem Reap. On the way back, stop at the Banteay Srei Butterfly Centre, the largest butterfly exhibit in Southeast Asia. Featuring a tropical garden with thousands of butterfly species, it’s a delight for children and adults alike.

The lake supports over 300 species of freshwater fish, as well as crocodiles, turtles, otters, and a variety of water birds. Most people living along the banks earn a living through fishing and agriculture, offering a fascinating glimpse into traditional Cambodian life.

In the afternoon, transfer to Siem Reap Airport for your flight to Phnom Penh. The evening is free for you to explore at your own pace. Optionally, you can take a street food tour by tuktuk, discover local customs, visit vibrant night markets, enjoy dinner with local drinks at a beer garden, or even try a unique fish foot massage. Situated at the confluence of the Mekong, Tonle Sap, and Bassac Rivers, Phnom Penh has long been called the “Paris of the East.” The city’s history, including its time under French colonial rule, continues to shape its architecture, culture, and streetscapes today.

Begin your tour at the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum, a former high school turned prison during the Khmer Rouge regime (1975–1979). Here, around 17,000 people—mostly soldiers accused of betrayal—were detained. The museum provides a moving insight into Cambodia’s tragic past.

Next, visit the National Museum, built during the French colonial period with a blend of French and Khmer architectural styles. Home to the largest collection of Khmer art and religious artifacts in the country, it is a must-see for history and culture enthusiasts.

Continue to the Royal Palace, constructed in 1866 and the residence of Cambodian kings (except during the Khmer Rouge era). Adjacent is the Silver Pagoda, famous for its floor of over 5,000 handmade silver tiles and its collection of priceless cultural and religious artifacts.

In the evening, enjoy free time or opt for a leisure cruise along the Mekong River. Delight in a private catered dinner prepared by a renowned chef, featuring grilled and BBQ dishes with local drinks, while watching the sunset and observing the daily life of floating villagers and fishermen. After the cruise, return to your hotel in Phnom Penh.
