Palawan Beach at leisure

Palawan, approximately one hour away from Manila by air is a more remote, tranquil and sparsely populated island than most of those that offer beach resort vacations. It is long and narrow, 450 kilometres/280 miles in length and 50 kilometres/31 miles in width. Its 2000 kilometres/1200 miles of irregular coastline is dotted with small islands and islets, rocky coves and beautiful white sand beaches. The local flora and fauna is unique to the island.

Time spent here is your own but you could consider some of the optional tours available such as the UndergroundRiver tour to a UNESCO world heritage protected area which consists of limestone karst landscapes and is a biodiversity conservation region. The river itself runs underground and emerges at the sea. Or consider the Honda Bay Island tour with its several islets and beautiful beaches ideal for swimming, snorkeling etc. A city tour of the capital, Puerto Princesa is another alternative. This small city has been claimed to be the cleanest and greenest city in the Philippines.
